Vision & Mission
The vision of the corporation is to primarily promote the Lord Murugan Spirituality & Worship, Tamil Tradition, Culture, Language, Literature & Arts; Educational, Charitable and Social activities.
The mission of this corporation, Murugan Temple Corporation (MTC) are:
- Establish and operate the Murugan Temple as a unified place of worship and social gathering for all people around the world;
- Strive for spiritual richness and human excellence through assimilation of values in ancient scriptures into the daily lives of people;
- Create awareness about the rich heritage, culture, and language among the local community;
- Establish a place to conduct spiritual, social, cultural, health and educational activities;
- To actively participate in the local community activities as a distinct group with civic sense and involvement with local social and economic growth;
- To abide by the Federal, State and Local laws and the Constitution of the United States of America. In addition to the powers granted corporations under the laws of the State of Texas, the corporation shall have full power and authority to donate for public welfare, charitable, scientific or educational purposes.
- The Temple is a charitable corporation within the meaning section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law).
Objectives:
The objectives of Temple shall include, but shall not be limited to:
- To build & operate the Temple in the state of Texas according to methods of Tamil Murugan worship practices, charitable and educational dimensions and perform and uphold Tamil Murugan bhakti activities based on Tamil culture;
- Development of the Temple shall be accomplished in stages (phases) based upon financial considerations and solid long-term plans:
- i) Phase I: Purchase of land (Completed March 2021),
- ii) Phase II: Build Main Temple and Sculpt & install the “Statue Of Lord Murugan”
- Hold regular worship daily;
- Install at least two competent, well trained Tamil priests to serve the majority of the Tamil community within a year after acquiring Temple site and installing a temporary shed with deities;
- Communicate and promote the distinct Tamil literature, philosophy, and culture of the Tamil for the advancement of human excellence;
- Promotion of Tamils and Tamil cultural understanding, harmony and cooperation;
- Promotion of the teaching of Tamil language as well as music, dancing, and other arts;
- Inspire the young generation to acquire the knowledge and promotion of Tamil culture and their roots;
- Raise funds, for the carrying out of these objectives, by public subscription, donations, mortgage of assets of the Organization, or in any appropriate way, which the Board of Trustees deem advisable;
- Promotion of humanitarian and compassionate services to the local community at large;
- Foster, promote and encourage goodwill and understanding through cross-cultural activities;
- Ensure ethical behavior and goodwill with other religious and/or cultural organizations;
- Carry out acts and all other functions, which are consistent with the aims and objectives of the Texas Tamil Murugan;
- Comply with the requirements of federal tax law for religious organizations;
- To do any other act incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof but not for the pecuniary benefit of its members, Administrators, Trustees, Officers or other private persons except that the Corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purpose set forth in this article. No substantial part of the activities of the Corporation shall be the carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office;
- In addition to the powers granted corporations under the laws of the State of Texas, the corporation shall have full power and authority to donate for public welfare, charitable, scientific or educational purposes;
- The corporation is a charitable or religious corporation within the meaning of , the purposes for which the corporation is organized are exclusively religious, charitable, within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law).
- Self-priesting shall be permitted by temple administration on case by case basis if a devotee wants to perform a pooja or worship for himself or herself without disturbing others on a permitted place inside the temple.
